Another quiet day in Tallahassee. Up late and out later. This afternoon we opted to see a matinee and we picked the Spielberg remake of "True Grit." We drove the AMC theater near the campground for the 2:45 p.m. showing.
As a John Wayne and and the original "True Grit" at the top of the Duke's favorite list I was curious how the remake would hold up to the first movie.
In what was a big surprise to me, the new movie outshone the original. Jeff Bridges eclipsed John Wayne's performance as Rooster Cogburn, but only because he made the role his own and didn't try to be the Duke.
Wayne's performance still shines, but I have to admit I really liked the new version better than the old. The theater was very nice and had the cushiest seats I can remember at a theater.
After dinner we went to Ruby Tuesdays and used a nice coupon that was gifted to us by Abby Q during her stay with us in Key Largo. (Thanks, Abby).
Without a doubt Ruby Tuesdays has one of the best salad bars ever. Tomorrow it's church and Superbowl.
