Although the trips were short and without the 33-foot behemoth traveling behind us, the summer of 2011 was filled with travel.
Several trips to Buffalo to visit Joan's mother in the nursing home, with adventures to Hoak's Restaurant.
In August we traveled to visit my sister Pam and her husband Jeff in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Following that we stayed with my parents in Herndon, Virginia and received a private tour of the National Air and Space Museum at Dulles from the best docent they have - my father.
Next we headed up to Reisterstown, Maryland and visited with Joan's sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Denny Dollard.
The next day Diane rode with us back to Buffalo where she, Joan and their other sister Patty spent some time together alone at the Buffalo Villa. I came home and ran the parking lot fund-raiser for the Family Literacy Center at Lapeer Days.
When I returned to pick up Joan we headed east for an overnight stop in Boston to pick up some of our daughter's possessions as she is returning home for a time, her job situation having changed.
Once back in Lapeer I made a weekend visit to Gettysburg with my friend Bob and his nephew for a battlefield tour for Civil War geeks.
So while the summer was supposed to filled with travel, it kinda was. Eight states and Canada is pretty much a busy travel itinerary.
