A sign, a Pope and some welcome guests

Today was a day for a new Pope and a new sign. But they are not at all connected. The sign is literally a sign. We’ve been looking for a sign for our trailer space so that people will know what part of Michigan we are from.
Our new sign
Often when people see our car license plate they ask what city we are from as they walk by our space. Now they will at least know the name of the city, but I imagine we’ll still have to hold up our hand – which serves as our map (Michigan looks like a hand, you know – and show them where Lapeer is.

We ordered the sign two weeks ago at the craft fair here at the resort and the fair returned, as it does every two weeks on Wednesday, today and we picked up the sign and hung it temporarily on the hitch for the trailer. We are looking for a bracket or hook but for now the hitch will have to do.
I worked out in the fitness center this morning – did 4 miles on the treadmill – and did some weights. Then we got cleaned up and Joan did a little laundry in anticipation for the influx of family guests tonight.

We had lunch and then headed to the store to put in supplies for the next week. On Friday we’ll be heading to northern Arizona for a couple days so the family can visit the Grand Canyon.
As you can see by the pictures I posted here that today was a very clear and bright day and it also set records for heat.  Today’s high was 89 (old record 88) and tomorrow is supposed to set yet another record as temps go into the 90s. It will be a little cooler when we head to the Grand Canyon on Friday.

So we’ve been here for a record setting cold winter and now one of the earliest 90 degree days in Arizona since they keep records if tomorrow's thermometer gets to 90. Usually they don’t get their first 90 degree day until the first week in April. Like I’ve said before, you want weird or record-setting weather invite Joan and Jim to your State.

We may try and see the comet again tonight as it is supposed to get clearer and clearer over the next few nights.

I’m writing this a couple hours before we head to the airport to start picking up Joan’s sister and my brother-in-law Denny at Tucson International Airport.
It may be a couple days before I post, but if I get time tomorrow night I’ll put up a few photos and a short post on what we do tomorrow.
